HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Fair will make its 150th return to the Wayne County Fairgrounds from Friday, August 3 through Saturday, August 11. Pay-one-price admission is $8 per person for those 24 months old and older, for which you get most grandstand shows, free parking and free rides all day.

The fairgrounds open at 9 a.m., with the midway and rides open from 12 noon to 11 p.m. Exhibit buildings, where you can see 4-H exhibits like the pigs in the accompanying photo, are open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Grandstand events will include a horse pulling contest at 11 a.m. on August 3, a woodsmen’s competition at 2 p.m. on August 4, a big rig truck pull at 7 p.m. on August 6 and harness racing at 2 p.m. on August 8, among the many free events, and a concert by Jake Owen on August 9 at 7:30 p.m. (tickets $15 and $25). Other entertainment will include strolling old-time minstrels Ed & Geraldine and the Old Time Bandwagon, Rosaire’s Racing Pigs in the southwest corner of the grounds, and music by the Ugly Shirt Band and Ziv, among others.

On Senior Citizens Days, August 3 and August 8, seniors (62 plus) are admitted for $4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Season tickets cost $35,, but do not include rides. They can be purchased at Dirlam Brothers Lumber Co. on Sunrise Avenue, Turkey Hill Convenient Store on Main Street, and the Wayne County Fair office during fair week only.
