JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Down on the Farm Day 2012 will be on Saturday, August 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be hosted by the Moran Family of Stonewall Farms, both at the main facility (139 Callicoon Center Rd.) and the Likel Road Facility. Down on the Farm Day is an annual family event organized by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County to give the public a chance to learn more about its farms.

There will be variety of activities related to Sullivan County agriculture and the Sullivan County BOCES Animal Science Program. A horse show, 4-H Moo-Juicer Petting Zoo and other Sullivan County farms are among the exhibits. The Gieger family will provide machinery demonstrations at the Likel Road facility and Nature’s Reserve Alpacas will be exhibiting their animals at the main facility.

In its current form, Stonewall started in 1993 when Ed and Barb Moran returned home to build a new horse barn and riding arena. In 2003, they added a barn facility for farm animals on Likel Road. The farm now consists of 35 to 40 boarding horses for both show and pleasure. Some of the horses are rescued. They are accompanied by 10 ponies, 10 feeder cattle, 25 ewes, 13 goats, 30 rabbits and chickens. Call 845/292-6180
