MILFORD, PA — The Pike County Historical society is hosting a historically-inspired baked goods contest on August 12 at the Columns Museum. Interested parties are invited to tour the museum and look for inspiration. The contest entries should depict something or someone that you think best represents Pike County history. The final products will be judged at 2 p.m. and prizes will be awarded for the “Best Historical” and “Most Creative” baked goods.
The idea for this contest evolved when one of the museum’s interns, Grace D’Agostino, mentioned she could bake cookies that looked like the noose used in the only public hanging to ever take place in Milford. Discussion ensued, and the idea for the historical bake off was launched.
The Columns Museum is open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in July and August. Visit www.pikecountyhistoricalsociety.org or call 570/296-8126.
