CALLICOON, NY — The Friends of Maris Hearn will present the sixth annual Maris Hearn Life Celebration Concert at the Delaware Youth Center, on Saturday, June 30, at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The evening will feature one of Maris’ all-time favorite artists in “An Evening with Magpie.” The concert is a benefit, all proceeds going to Damascus Citizens for Sustainability, Catskill Citizens for Safe Energy, and Catskill Mountainkeeper.

Terry Leonino and Greg Artzner began to play music together in Kent, OH in September of 1973, they chose the name Magpie for their band. Magpie (www.magpiemusic.com) has traveled and toured extensively, performed at folk clubs and festivals around the world, and recorded many times.

Judith DeMaris (Maris) Hearn, who had a long running show, The Gumbo Shop, on WJFF, hydro-powered community radio in the Catskills, died on March 8 2007, International Women’s Day, after an almost 20-year battle with cancer.

The suggested donation is $10, $5 for students and senior citizens at the door. Children under 16 are admitted free. No one turned away. Call 845/807-8689.
