CALLICOON, NY — As noted in our editorial this week, one of summer’s great attractions in our area is its street fairs and celebrations. Callicoon’s annual tractor parade, scheduled for this Sunday, June 10, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., is one of the first of the season. The firemen will kick off the day with their pancake breakfast at their building on Route 97, from 7 to 11 a.m. Once you’ve had breakfast, you can make your way down to Lower Main Street, where tractors of all vintages and sizes will drive down Lower Main Street starting at 12 noon, complete with an announcer who will fill you in the details on the vehicles’ owners and ages. The parade will be followed by a chicken barbeque and entertainment at the Delaware Youth Center, located at the bottom of Lower Main Street across the bridge.
The Callicoon Post Office will issue a special cancellation stamp honoring the Tractor Parade. The postmaster will be in town during the parade selling the special envelopes that will commemorate the day. Proceeds from the envelopes and from T-shirts (see photo) will benefit the youth center.
