LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The ninth annual Trout Parade, Sullivan County’s own version of Mardi Gras, will be held on Saturday, June 9. Starting at 11:30 a.m. there will be an arts and crafts fair, children’s activities, specialty foods from local vendors and entertainment. Activities will include balloon making, face painting, music, dancing and stilt walking. The parade will step-off at 1 p.m., led by the 2012 Grand Marshals Dr. Don Simkin and Ellen Singer, and featuring antique and classic cars, floats representing local businesses, organizations, puppets from Catskill Theatre (see photo) and performance groups.
Immediately following the parade, painted rain barrels created reated by Tri-Valley Team Conservation students, Liberty Art students and Sullivan County BOCES Automotive students will be auctioned at the Main Street Stage to raise funds for scholarships.
After the parade, there will be a silent auction benefit at the Catskill Art Society (CAS) from 2 to 4 p.m. Music and refreshments will be provided.
The parade is produced by CAS in partnership with the Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce and with support from businesses and individuals from around the community. Proceeds from the parade will benefit the Arts and Music Programs at the Livingston Manor Central School and CAS. Visit www.troutparade.com or call 845/436-4227.
