SULLIVAN COUNTY, PA — The new Sullivan County Dairy Court was crowned on April 27. The 2012-13 court consists of four Dairy Ambassadors: Adeline Bodnaruik, Brandi Burk, Cierra Roth and Amy Sykes; and two Milk Maids; Brittney Burk and Carrie Sykes. June is Dairy Month, and June 4 is National Frozen Yogurt Day. The new court offers the following cooling recipe.
Chocolate Frozen Yogurt
Ingredients
3/4 cup white sugar
2 tsps. cornstarch
(12 fluid ounce) can fat-free evaporated milk
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup plain low-fat yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
1. Stir together the cornstarch and sugar, and place in a saucepan. Stir in the evaporated milk and chocolate chips. Cook over medium heat until chocolate is melted and the mixture is thickened. Stir constantly to prevent burning.
2. Remove the mixture from the heat, and stir in the plain yogurt and vanilla. Refrigerate until chilled.
3. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
