Speckers take the stage in Tusten

May 17, 2012

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Speckers, a family trio of old-time fiddlers, will perform on Saturday, May 19 at 8 p.m. at the Tusten Theatre on Bridge Street.

John Specker was born in Callicoon Depot and spent summers on his family’s ancestral farm in Shandelee. A major force in the modern day fiddle revival, John initially made his name as a musician in Ithaca as “father of the Ithaca sound” with his band The Correctones String Band. Specker has been living in Chester, VT for 30 years and tours with his two adult daughters Lila and Ida Mae.

The Tusten Theatre spring season continues May 26 with Nancy and Spencer Reed with Sweet Sue Terry; and June 2 with Red Molly.

Tickets cost $20 (DVAA members receive a $2 discount) and are available by calling 845/252-7272. Visit www.ArtsAl lianceSite.org.
