LAKE WALLENPAUPACK, PA — National Volunteer Week and Earth Day will combine as the themes of the Pike Wayne Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the PPL Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center. There will be opportunities for hands-on learning and celebration of local natural resources, while highlighting the organizations in Pike and Wayne counties that aim to protect them. Many of them are looking for volunteers.

Organizations will offer kid-friendly crafts, activities and displays for all ages. Healthy food, prepared on premises, will be sold. Kayak and canoe demonstrations will take place in the cove. Musical performances, bird walks, puppet shows and other events will be held throughout the day.

Everyone will be entered to win one of several door prizes donated by participating organizations and individuals. Earn extra door prize tickets by donating, recycling and volunteering. Donate your old textbooks, encyclopedias or novels to the Better World Books drop-off. Recycle old ink cartridges and cell phones by dropping them off. Decorate bluebird boxes to be used in a local community or park.

The free event will take place rain or shine. Visit www.pikewayneearthday.org.
