WAYNE COUNTY, PA — You can take a self-guided tour of maple syrup and sugar producers in Wayne County on Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour has been coordinated by the Wayne Conservation District in partnership with the Wayne County Cooperative Extension and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Maple Producers Association. You can follow the maple syrup making process from the tree to the table, and pick up locally produced maple products while you’re at it.

Among the venues are Nebzydoski’s Maple Farm in Pleasant Mount (570/448-2386), Morning Sun Farm in Honesdale (570/224-4607), Burcher Hill Sugarbush in Milanville (570/729-7409), Shemanski Maple Syrup in Waymart (570/488-6095), Sugar Creek Maple Farm in Honesdale (570/488-5379) and Yatsonsky’s Farm Market in Honesdale (570/488-5683). A brochure with a full list of “sugar bushes” and directions to each one can be found at wayneconservation.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/2012-Malpe-Tour-Borchure.pdf.

Coordinating with the tour, there will be two pancake breakfasts on Sunday morning: one at Pleasant Mount Emergency Services, 395 Great Bend Tpk. from 8 to 1 p.m., with syrup from Nebzydoski’s (570/448-2963); and one at Ledgedale Volunteer Fire Company, 589 Goose Pond Rd. in Lake Ariel, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, with syrup from Shemanski’s (570/689-9457).
