Weinstein in ‘Denial’

February 23, 2012

NARROWSBURG, NY — “Denial,” an exhibit of silk screen and linoleum block prints by Joyce Ellen Weinstein, opens with a reception on Saturday, February 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Alliance Gallery at the Delaware Arts Center. The exhibit runs through March 17.

Weinstein is a New York City native who recently moved to Milford, PA. Her works are concerned with the understanding of human relationships. While at an artist’s residency in Vilnius, Lithuania, she observed a group of employees practicing trusting and bonding exercises with a facilitator to foster better workplace relationships. “Some people were blindfolded and others actually walked on tight ropes attached high up on the trees. I took many photos because it was so intriguing,” Weinstein said. When she returned home, the photos triggered a series of linoleum block prints.

Free and open to the public, the exhibit is sponsored by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County. Alliance Gallery is located at 37 Main St. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.ArtsAllianceSite.org.
