Forestburgh revamps summer 2012

FORESTBURGH, NY — Producing director Norman Duttweiler announced a number of changes and additions to the previously announced 2012 summer season at the Forestburgh Playhouse. “Although we try to avoid changing a season that we have already announced, sometimes situations arise which cause this to happen. We had previously announced ‘Spamalot,’ which we had hoped to pair with Lerner’s and Loewe’s ‘Camelot.’ We are now replacing ‘Spamalot’ with the recent Broadway hit ‘Legally Blonde,’ and are replacing ‘Camelot’ with another long time audience favorite, ‘The Sound of Music.’ We think we will have an even stronger season with these new additions.”

These new shows join a lineup which also includes “Guys and Dolls,” “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “West Side Story,” Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park” and the comedy thriller “Murder Among Friends” with M*A*S*H star Loretta Swit.

Among other changes next year, for the first time since 1996, the Tavern at the Forestburgh Playhouse will offer a buffet pre-show dinner on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. It will be accompanied by the performance of the famed Forestburgh Playhouse cabaret after dinner and before the main stage production. There will be no post-show cabaret performances on these three week nights. Visit www.FBplayhouse.org or call 845/794-1194.
