Classic cars collect in Hawley

HAWLEY, PA — What is family-friendly, free of charge and features some of the finest classic cars in the region? It’s the Coasters Car Club of Northeast PA’s monthly gathering in Hawley’s Bingham Park. Vintage motorcars are on display from 5 p.m. until dusk on the first Friday of the month, with the next meetup scheduled for August 5. Antique auto enthusiasts roll into town and arrange between 50 to 100 classic cars near the park’s bandstand. The public is invited to cruise the collection, view the vehicles and talk to their passionate owners. Bring lawn chairs or blankets along to enjoy the free music emanating from the bandstand (weather permitting). The event is usually preceded by the weekly farmers market, which runs from 2 to 5 p.m. in the park. Here, Bob Spencer, who coordinates the club’s efforts, displays his 1955 Thunderbird convertible (shown with hardtop). See the online version of this story for more photos.
