LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — There will be a celebration of all things Audubon in Livingston Manor from Friday, June 24 through Sunday, July 3.

The week will get started with the opening of an Audubon and Friends art exhibition at Flour Power Bakery, with a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the upstairs gallery. The exhibit will be open to the general public through July 17. It will feature 17 artists and photographers, and the Sullivan County Audubon Society will highlight the exhibit with an information station on our local birds and butterflies and information on their activities in Sullivan County.

The reception will usher in Audubon Week in Livingston Manor, declared by the Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce for June 25 through July 3. Main Street merchants will feature their own corresponding nature and art presentations as well as nature-themed merchandise. Special brochures for planting flowers and bushes to attract birds and butterflies will be available at kiosks around town at no charge. See page 23 for an event at Morgan Outdoors.

On Sunday, June 26 at Water Wheel Junction on Main Street there will be an arts and crafts fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The artists’ tent at the fair will feature prints and note cards from the Audubon and Friends artists as well as works by pottery artists, jewelry, birdhouses, birdbaths, quilts and plants. There will also be a Birdhouse Competition and a chainsaw art demo by Brian Harnett, the Audubon and Friends sculptor. A local birdwalk will be conducted by a member of the Sullivan County Audubon Society.
