HONESDALE, PA — With the support of a grant from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, the Wayne County Arts Alliance will host the Tunes & Tales Tent, a family arts program featuring arts, games, music and two theater performances, at the Roots & Rhythms Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, June 18. Tunes & Tales will provide a multi-cultural and multi-generational program that will display the arts through the world of music and storytelling by regional performers.

Opening at 2:00, Richard Grunn will present “Urbano’s Circus,” a show incorporating comedy, puppetry, mime and a character-driven plot that entrances audiences of all ages. The Show is inspired by medieval minstrel puppet shows and by contemporary artist Alexander Calder and performed by noted actor and artist Grunn. “Urbano’s Circus” is a place where art meets history and theatre.

At 4:00 pm, “The Quest,” by regional theater artist Tara Gadomski, will be performed. “The Quest” is a theatre show for families with improvisation, comedy and pageantry, played by a troupe of NYC theater artists. With the help of the audience, “The Quest” creates the story of The Brave Hero, her Trusty Sidekick and the Brainy Professor on their adventure to restore laughter to their land.

Between scheduled performances, the tent will be open for children and their families to create a musical crafts project, games and enjoy the art of face painting. The event is part of the annual Roots & Rhythm Arts & Music Festival, taking place all day long on Main Street and in Central Park of Honesdale.
