Clarinetist Drucker plays Mozart at St. Andrew’s
April 27, 2011 —
SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — A chamber music group featuring clarinetist Stanley Drucker will perform works by Mozart on Saturday, April 30 at 8 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, located at 5277 State Route 42.
One of the works, Mozart’s Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, K. 581, is Mozart’s only completed clarinet quintet, and is one of the earliest and best-known works written especially for the instrument. It remains exceptionally popular today due to its lyrical melodies.
Drucker, the New York Philharmonic Principal Clarinet, celebrated 60 years as a member of the orchestra in 2009, and became an honorary member of the Philharmonic Society of New York, the first orchestral musician so honored.
