HONESDALE, PA — As Honesdale’s Troop 1 celebrates its 100th anniversary, a flag and bugle ceremony on the steps of the Wayne County Historical Society, 810 Main St., will open a special exhibit at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, followed by an open house from 4 to 7 p.m., with refreshments and free museum admission.

The exhibit includes a recreated campsite, a board containing examples of the many knots scouts learn to tie, three display cases filled with Troop 1 memorabilia and more. Troop 1, Honesdale, which started in 1911, is the nation’s longest continually operating Boy Scout troop. The WCHS museum and research library will be open 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday through Saturday, and Sundays 12 noon to 4 p.m. (museum only) from April 23 through 2011.
