‘Man vs. Mother Nature”

April 21, 2011

NARROWSBURG, NY— “Man vs. (Mother) Nature,” an exhibition curated by Karen Hudson and featuring a group of 20 local and regional artists, opens at the Loft Gallery at the Delaware Arts Center in Narrowsburg on Friday, April 29, with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. The show will be on view through May 28.

As curator, Hudson’s goal was to assemble a collection of work that examines how our landscape is affected by progress. “I thought about putting this show together after I saw an entire mountainside razed in Parksville, in order to prepare for I-86. I wondered where all of the wildlife would migrate and how much of it died,” Hudson says. “It raised my awareness. I don’t think I will ever drive over those bridges without thinking about how much destruction building them caused.”
Loft Gallery is located at 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY, and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 845/252-7576.
