HONESDALE, PA — Lights, camera, fashion! The Cooperage Project in collaboration with Alessandra Iavarone of The Velvet Maple presented a fashion show fundraiser at The Cooperage on Sunday, April 9. The event showcased many local businesses, including clothing and jewelry stores, salons, photographers and more.

Curated by The Velvet Maple, located on Main Street, the fashion show, called “Main Wear Expo,” had local models wearing items from a variety of Honesdale shops. They are: Arts for Him and Her Too, Aura Tie-Dye, basin & main, Bloom, Finders Keepers, Great Things Boutique, lisa b., Milkweed, Mary Beth Bridals and Boutique, The Velvet Maple Lifestyle Shoppe and Yoga International. Fashions ranged from casual, such as leggings and shorts, to formalwear such as dresses and a wedding gown. Iavarone styled all of the ensembles, and there were about 15 models of all ages, each of whom wore two different outfits.

Iavarone remarked, “My core intention for proposing and curating this event was to spotlight Honesdale as the place to be this spring and summer. Take a lovely walk up and down Main Street, meet our business owners and artisans; there is something for everyone. A very heartfelt thanks to The Cooperage Project family for the opportunity to showcase my fashion vision.”

The event was a collaborative effort among many local businesses and volunteers. Lunch was served during the afternoon event by Anthill Farm Kitchen, and table settings and décor were put together by Jenna Motichka of A Picker’s Find and Katharine Brown of Fox Hill Farm. The models’ hair and makeup was done by local salons Universal Hair Salon, Infinity Salon, Jeannie’s Chapel Street Salon and New York Nails.

All the money raised is going to The Cooperage, which is a non-profit organization. It was a sold-out event, with 72 tickets sold. The executive director of The Cooperage Project, Ryanne Jennings, said, “We were thrilled to highlight many of the local businesses, photographers and stylists and showcase their talents, clothing, accessories and goods. It was a wonderful afternoon with delicious food, and we’re incredibly thankful for our volunteers who worked so hard to make the event possible.”
