NARROWSBURG, NY — “Visual Duets, Partners in Life & Art,” an exhibition curated by Nancy Lew Lee, opens at the Delaware Arts Center’s Alliance Gallery, 37 Main St., on Saturday, February 4, with a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. The reception will be preceded by a panel discussion with the artists from 2 to 3 p.m. The show will be on view through March 25.

“Visual Duets” includes nine artist couples who have been together for decades weathering the competing gravitational pulls of love, ambition, jobs, money and children. The inspiration for this exhibition came from Lee’s friendship with artists and spouses Elizabeth Harms and Douglas Craft. Until Craft’s recent passing at age 90, the couple had been married for over 60 years, making art side by side all those years. Initially, Lee imagined an exhibition that focused exclusively on the partners’ art. But as she talked to the artists in their homes and studios, she realized she was equally interested in their experiences living with a co-artist.

The exhibition includes painters Ellen Cibula and Johan Sellenraad, potter Carolyn Duke and photographer Dana Duke, photographer Glenn Lieberman and painter Dale Emmart, painters Kathe Frantz and Charles Farless, painters Elizabeth Harms and Doug Craft, painter/printmaker Madelon Jones and photographer Kit Jones, painter Richard Kreznar and sculptor Nancy Lew Lee, painters/sculptors Candy Spilner and Allan Rubin, and sculptor Naomi Teppich and painter Martin Springhetti.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information visit delawarevalleyartsal liance.org or call 845/252-7576.
