HONESDALE, PA — One of New York’s finest performers and songwriters, Joe Crookston, will showcase a remarkable range of musical talent on The Cooperage stage on Sunday, February 25 at 4 p.m. Opening for Crookston, who has performed for every RiverFolk season, is NYC-based Jeremy Aaron.
“With all the performers out there, an artist has to go beyond good…and Joe does,” wrote Sing Out Magazine.
Crookston’s recording, “Able Baker Charlie & Dog,” is filled with story songs from a Rockefeller songwriting grant and was awarded “Album of the Year” by the International Folk Alliance in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the Artist in Residence at the 2016 Folk Alliance International Conference. He collaborated with the National World War I Museum in Kansas City to write an original song and create visual art inspired by the letters of Florence Hemphill, a nurse from Kansas who served during some of the most intense fighting of the war. The upcoming performance will include storytelling, songs, original paintings and visual art.
Aaron is a singer, storyteller, community organizer, bluesman, poet, guitarist, violinist and the creator of Greenwich Village Showcase. Warm and real, his music evokes nights around the campfire between old friends.
