Contra dance at The Cooperage

HONESDALE, PA — You can celebrate Thanksgiving weekend with an some old-fashioned country-style dancing at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St., on Saturday, November 25 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Beginners can come early at 7:15 p.m. and get a lesson. Bring a partner with you or find a partner here, all are welcome. There will be live music by Laura Courtright and Craig Gehrig; the caller is Laurie B.

Contra dance is a folk dance made up of long lines of couples. It has mixed origins from English country dance, Scottish and French dance styles in the 17th century, with strong African influence from Appalachia.
