Lawmaker appeals right-to-know

HARRISBURG, PA — State Rep. Greg Vitali on April 28 appealed the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ denial of his right-to-know request seeking information about Gov. Tom Corbett’s plan to raise $75 million through the additional leasing of state parks and forests for natural gas drilling.  Read more

Jenkins sentenced

LIBERTY, NY — Gordon Jenkins, the mayor of Monticello, was sentenced to three years probation on April 29, with the first 45 days to be spent in Sullivan County Jail. Jenkins’ attorney Michael Sussman said he would file for a stay of the sentencing while the verdict is appealed. If the stay is denied, Jenkins will have to report to jail on May 1.  Read more
