Pike Chamber announces 2014 membership promotion

PIKE COUNTY, PA — The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is running a member promotion from now until March 31. Businesses that join and pay in full will get an additional six-month membership for free. A current paid chamber member in good standing, who brings in a new member of equal or greater annual membership investment value, will receive a free three-month membership extension. Bringing in four new members earns a current member free membership for a year.  Read more

Tri-State Chamber announces weekly radio show

PORT JERVIS, NY — The Tri-State Chamber of Commerce will host a new weekly radio forum, “Chamber Matters,” on Neversink Media Group stations, beginning on Thursday, January 30 at 9 a.m. and rebroadcast on Sunday, February 2 at 7 a.m. on WDLC 1490AM as well as other network stations. “Chamber Matters” will be hosted by chamber Executive Director Charlene Trotter and Director Nelson Page. Artists mark opening of new exhibition at DVAA gallery

NARROWSBURG, NY — Seven of the 12 artists participating in the group exhibition “Natural Selection[s]” at the Alliance Gallery at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance stopped for a photograph at the opening of the show. Local craft brewer added to Roscoe Beer Co.

ROSCOE, NY — Since receiving its New York State Brewers License, Roscoe Beer Co. (RBC) continues the forward motion of its company by adding an on-site brewer, Joshua Hughes, who will continue the development of new craft beers. Hughes will begin brewing, and in the coming months will help RBC develop their plans for a larger brewing facility.  Read more

Pike County EDA to present plans to stimulate economy

HAWLEY, PA — In an effort to address unemployment, elevate the local wage scale, promote economic growth and achieve a full recovery from the 2008-09 recession, Pike County is planning to do something about these issues. At 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18 at Ehrhardt’s Restaurant at 205 Rte. 507 on Lake Wallenpaupack, the Pike County Economic Development Authority (EDA) will unveil a program designed to stimulate activity in several sectors of the Pike County economy.  Read more

Scouts to hold pinewood derby race

SHOHOLA, PA — The Milford Cub Scout Pack 71 will hold a pinewood derby on Saturday, February 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Shohola Elementary School. The public is invited to check out the race on a digital track, and anyone interested in racing can enter the open race. Participants must register by February 3. Car kits are available from the pack for $5. Come relive your childhood fun, or let your children experience it firsthand. WJFF hosts open house

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Local radio station WJFF 90.5 will open its doors on Saturday, February 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. for an open house. All are welcome and encouraged to come see how local community radio is made while the station presents live music during its on-air “Open Mic.”  Read more

Wayne County Historical Society receives donation for Canal Park

HONESDALE, PA — Peter Rodgers, president of Rodgers-Olver-Polley, Inc., recently presented the Wayne County Historical Society (WCHS) with a donation of $1,000 for ongoing work at the Lock 31 Canal Park Project and renovation of the Daniels Farm at New Castle between White Mills and Hawley. The gift was made available through the Lebanon Valley Insurance Company Foundation, which has a long tradition of making annual gifts to qualifying 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations recommended by one of their agents.  Read more

Hands of Hope seeking volunteers to help the homeless

PIKE COUNTY, PA — Pike County Hands of Hope (PCHOH), a charity that provides assistance to families and individuals who are homeless or near-homeless in the community, is currently seeking volunteers, including a part-time Hopeline coordinator, Hopeline volunteers, hands-on volunteers and a spiritual coordinator.  Read more
