Paintings of Caroline Harrow on display

STARLIGHT, PA — During the month of October, The Big D Arts and Crafts League will feature the paintings of Caroline Harrow in the gallery at the Inn at Starlight Lake.

Livingston Manor artist Harrow enjoys painting old barns and nature scenes in her realistic watercolor paintings. Her limited palette and muted colors have often been compared to Wyeth.

“I tried other mediums but found that my true love is in watercolors. I grew up on a farm in High Falls, NY and attended one of the last one-room schools in the state.  Read more

Grey Towers dramatic reading pays tribute to Edgar Allan Poe

MILFORD, PA — Tickets for the popular dramatic reading of selected works of Edgar Allan Poe at Grey Towers National Historic Site, 122 Old Owego Turnpike, will become available to the public on October 1.

“Forevermore: A Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe,” will be presented on Saturday, October 26, at 6 p.m. An 8 p.m. performance will be added when the 6 p.m. show sells out.  Read more

ARTery featured artists

MILFORD, PA — The opening reception for the ARTery October featured artists Randall Fitzgerald and Marie Liu will be held during Milford’s “Art After Dark” celebration on Saturday, October 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit will be on display from October 11 to November 4.  Read more

Black Bear Film Festival kicks off October 18th

‘Best of Philly’ in Hawley, PA

HAWLEY, PA — Suzie Brown will be joined by Grammy Award winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Scot Sax, playing guitar and foot stomp, at Harmony Presents in the Boiler Room located on the lowest level of the Hawley Silk Mill on Saturday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. This Harvard-educated cardiologist turned singer-songwriter has been named “Best of Philly” by Philadelphia Magazine and shared the stage with Lyle Lovett.  Read more

Storytelling dinner depicts life on the canal

HAWLEY, PA —The Wayne County Historical Society will hold its annual Storytelling Dinner at The Settlers Inn on Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26 at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $65 per person, which includes traditional storytelling, harvest season dinner and artfully carved pumpkins. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Wayne County Historical Society’s restoration of Delaware & Hudson Lock 31 Canal Park.  Read more

‘Collage from your Heart’

MILFORD, PA — Pike County Arts and Crafts will present the workshop “Collage from your Heart” by mixed-media artist Alyta Adams at the Milford Borough Hall on Wednesdays, October 23 and 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Adams’ workshop is a simple, immediate, and creative collage process, easy for anyone to learn. If you can look through magazines and catalogs, cut out images, and paste them down, you can find a new way to express yourself by learning to create a collage.  Read more

Haunted Lantern Tours

NARROWSBURG, NY — There will be Haunted History Lantern Tours at Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History on Saturday, October 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. “Who Killed Joseph Skinner?” and other family-friendly ghost stories of Cushetunk and beyond will be told.

Special guests will be The King’s Highlanders (18th century Scottish pipe and drum band ) plus the usual colonial-attired suspects: blacksmith John, Mrs. Thomas, the Rev. Art in the Park in Liberty

LIBERTY, NY — Art in the park will be held at the Liberty Fall Harvest Festival in LaPolt Park on October 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Art in the Park is a small gathering of artists and crafters in the LaPolt Park on Main Street in Liberty during the annual Liberty Fall Harvest Festival.
