Legislator objects to Voter ID ads

HARRISBURG, PA — State Senator Matt Smith is calling on the Pennsylvania Department of State to stop airing the controversial “Show it” television, web and radio ads that returned to the airwaves and online this week. The ads are related to the Pennsylvania Voter ID Law, which has so far been blocked by the courts, and which Smith said mislead voters into believing that they must show a photo ID to vote.  Read more

TOWN OF CALLICOON, NY — There has been a rash of theft of election signs in the Town of Callicoon in advance of the election in November. Fending off tax certiorari; Ya gotta spend money to save money

There are a number of property owners in Sullivan County who think that their tax assessments are higher than they should be and therefore they are paying more than their fair share of property taxes. Among those are the owners of Kohls Distribution Center in Wurtsboro; Walmart and Kutshers Resort in the Town of Thompson; and Eagle Creek Companies, which owns the system of reservoirs in Bethel, Lumberland and Forestburgh.  Read more
