Gun manufacturer gets conditional use hearing

A conditional use hearing is scheduled for September 16 at 5:30 p.m. for Kahr Firearms Group, which is looking to establish a manufacturing plant and corporate headquarters at the Pike County Business Park. HARRISBURG, PA — Barry J. Schoch, the secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDot), announced on August 23 that the department will implement or expand weight restrictions to about 1,000 structurally deficient bridges statewide to ensure bridge safety and preserve the aging bridge system.  Read more

Groups file lawsuit against PPL line

REGION — The New Jersey Sierra Club (NJSC) joined other national and local environmental and citizen groups in filing for a preliminary injunction to stop construction of the Susquehanna-Roseland transmission line in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and two adjacent national park units. PSEG and PPL are scheduled to begin work in the parks on September 3.  Read more

Boy killed in Cochecton ATV accident

An eight-year-old boy was killed in an all-terrain-vehicle (ATV) accident on New Turnpike Road in the Town of Cochecton on August 24. New York State Police issued a press release that said they were called to the scene at about 5:30 p.m.  Read more

HARRISBURG, PA — The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced on August 26 the creation of the Keystone Energy Education Program (KEEP) to teach and track energy efficiency in school buildings and homes.  Read more

No dog ordinance for Berlin Township

The supervisors in Berlin Township have decided not to adopt a dog ordinance at the present time. They had been considering adopting one because of complaints about a specific barking dog, but the issue has subsided.  Read more
