DAMASCUS, PA — Casey and Sally Halma of Beaver Lake in Damascus Township, PA stopped by The River Reporter offices last week wanting to share their photos of a peaceful encounter with a mother black bear and her two cubs. It happened on Friday, June 21 in early afternoon in their yard when the bear came right up to their porch steps. They saw her scratching in the grass where a bird feeder had spilled over.
“We didn’t even know the two cubs were there,” explained Casey, “until she stood up and scratched at the tree, and we saw two cubs climb down.” Read more
BETHEL, NY — Just in time to celebrate our national birthday, “Eagles of the Upper Delaware – and Other Birds of Prey” an exhibit of photographs by Jerry Cohen and woodcarvings by guest artist Paul Stark, will open at the Stray Cat Gallery on Thursday, July 4, with an opening reception on Friday, July 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. The show runs through July 17.
