Taxidermy and reclaimed wood art

BARRYVILLE, NY — Artwork incorporating taxidermy and reclaimed wood will be on exhibit in an unusual art show titled “Mounted: Wood Meets Fur” which opens with an artist’s reception on Sunday, May 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The River Market, State Rte. 97. Assemblage artist Gordon Graff, owner of the UpFront Gallery in Port Jervis, NY, will show his works at the Barryville Gallery through September 9.

‘Mist & Mystery’ in Bethel

BETHEL, NY — “Mist & Mystery,” a two-person show featuring the works of Barbara Zweig and Kit Jones, opens on Saturday, May 25 at the Stray Cat Gallery, just opposite the Dancing Cat Saloon, with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m.

Barbara Zweig depicts the Venus de Milo as an icon of culture, beauty and truth. In mysterious works that hang on the wall and “bleed” down onto the floor and paintings of the Venus as ghosts floating in the night sky, she reflects on the present state of our commodity-ized culture.  Read more

WCM begins 20th anniversary with Music at the Mill

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — A pre-festival benefit soirée kicks off Weekend of Chamber Music’s 20th anniversary in the Catskills from 4 to 8 p.m. on May 25 at the Art Mill. HAWLEY, PA — Matt Simon performs with Harmony Presents at the Hawley Silk Mill, Saturday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. He is signed with Sony Music and his songwriting has gained attention jumping into the top 10 charts abroad.

Comedy tour comes to Sullivan

ELDRED, NY — The Laugh Tour returns on Saturday, May 25 at 9 p.m. at a new venue, Henning’s Local, a new restaurant at 1040 State Rte. 55 in The Eldred Preserve. Comic Moody McCarthey, who has appeared on Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Last Comic Standing and Star Search, headlines. Dinner is available starting at 5 p.m. and during the show. Also appearing is Rich Carucci, Mr. Langham. Rich Kiamco serves as host and MC.

GLBT Center presents ‘Girl Talk’

MILFORD, PA — Upper Delaware GLBT Center will hold the performance “Girl Talk” on Saturday, May 25 at the historic Milford Theatre at 9 p.m. The evening will be accentuated by a pre-show and auction for everyone at 8:15 p.m., with an after party at the Patisserie for VIP ticket holders.

Cunningham Family Farms reopens for the summer

SWAN LAKE, NY — The 2013 opening of Cunningham Farms, Hurd Park Rd., is Saturday, May 25. The farm will be open weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November 4. Beer tasting event, silent auction for Catskill Art Society

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Art Society (CAS) will hold the Tri-State Beer Tasting Showcase on Sunday, May 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring craft beers from breweries in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This is a fundraising event for CAS and will be held at the art center at 48 Main St. The event also offers food, music, and art presented by Sullivan County-based purveyors as well as a last chance to bid on artwork in the SHHH!
