Meet me on Old Mine Road
near Bevans Church and

that snowy February day
on the gravel trail
near Van Campen’s Inn,
air, ice fresh,
rock-strewn fields
like whipped cream swirls,
the sounds of foraging
mice, snow crystals
shifting in afternoon sun,
the click of a Nikon
as we pushed knee-deep
through drifts
shooting crumbling
barns and shadows
cast by barren limbs
in late day light.

Valentine’s Day was celebrated on Saturday the 16th for us. Once again we went to the Carriage House to dance to Mickey Barnet. This year we went with another couple, Barbara and James. We really had a great time. James and Tommy sat and talked and Barbara and I were up dancing. As always, Dottie and Herman Esselman were there dancing like professionals. Herman and I danced to the song “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.” Herman can dance, but I can shake; together we made a good couple. Read more

The Literacy Board of Sullivan County presents a book reading and signing by author Mary Ziavras from Greek Folk Stories Old and New at the Read it Again Bookstore, 5:30pm.
