Thieves hit Narrowsburg church

A thief or perhaps more than one broke into St. Francis Xavier Church and stole an undetermined amount of cash and unopened envelopes containing checks.

The back door of the church’s rectory had been kicked in while Father Bill Scully was performing the 8 p.m. Mass on Christmas Eve.

Along with money collected from a Mass earlier in the day, the intruder stole several hundred dollars in coins, several watches and a lamp.

As of December 31, 2012, Skully said that carpenters were at the church repairing the damage.  Read more

A Facebook page was created by Milford Mayor Robert Fean to allow the public to become informed of the potential dangers at the site of the newly proposed Delaware Valley Elementary School if a gas pipeline were to be constructed near the site. Fracking film gets mixed reviews; Multiple spoiler alerts for ‘Promised Land’

The broad outlines of the film “Promised Land” could have been found in numerous towns in the region in recent times. A landman, in the person of Steve Butler (played by Matt Damon), turns up in a struggling Pennsylvania farm town trying to convince local landowners to sign gas leases.

That might have been an easy task were it not for an outsider environmentalist named Dustin Noble, played by John Krasinski, who turns up to work against Butler’s goal, not to mention the efforts of a local teacher Frank Yates, played by Hal Holbrook.  Read more
