Seasonal music at Janice

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The Noah Barker Trio will give two concerts of seasonal music at the Janice Center, on December 8 at 4 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. Pianist Barker will be joined by two fellow students from Purchase, NY: Dean Torrey on bass and Aaron Seeber on drums. Torrey, a native of Connecticut, has been studying bass since the age of 10, has studied jazz since seventh grade and views jazz as a sophisticated alternative to classical music. Seeber is a native of Washington, DC, where he was selected as a finalist in the 2010 Grammy Jazz Ensemble.  Read more

Liberty winter concerts

LIBERTY, NY — The Liberty Central School Music Department will present its annual Winter Concerts throughout December. Festivities will begin at 7 p.m. for all concerts, which will be held in the David Panebaker Auditorium at the high school.

Multi-media winter art show

LORDS VALLEY, PA — The Chant Realtors annual winter art show and sale featuring Hemlock Farms artists and friends opened on Saturday, December 1 and runs until January 29.

Original paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor, plus 3-D works in clay and glass, make up this holiday exhibit showcasing the talents of some 15 artists.

Milford Galleries hold holiday receptions

MILFORD, PA — Five art galleries will hold holiday receptions on Saturday, December 8 as part of Milford’s regularly scheduled Art after Dark events, held each month on the second Saturday. Christmas song selections

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, NY — The Transformation Choir will present a Christmas cantata “Let the Whole World Sing” by Joel Raney on Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the White Sulphur Springs Methodist Church; and on Sunday, December 9 at the Hortonville Presbyterian Church.

The music includes a several pieces that tell the story of the birth of Christ. The program will also include other seasonal music. A free-will offering at each performance will benefit local food pantries. Call 845/887-4346.

Children’s holiday event

MATAMORAS, PA — The Women in Business Committee of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce will host their second annual children’s holiday event on Sunday, December 9 at the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing from 2 to 4 p.m. It is free for children, who must be accompanied by an adult. Activities include making and decorating an ornament, singing holiday music, meeting and telling Santa their wish lists and having photos with Santa taken by Diane Bollen from Dragonfly Studio. Choral concert at St. John’s

HONESDALE, PA — St. John the Evangelist Choir will present its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 16 at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 500 Terrace St. Under the direction of John Propeack and accompanied by Theresa Gumble, the choir will perform selections composed or arranged by British composer John Rutter, and will offer many familiar titles including “I saw Three Ships,” “Joy to the World,” and “I Wonder as I Wander” featuring soprano soloist Pip Tagle. The concert is free although donations are welcome. The choir can be heard at mass each Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

A cappella group to perform for Good Shepherd

MILFORD, PA — The international touring a cappella group Ball in the House will perform its benefit Christmas concert on December 9 at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. John the Evangelist.

Delaware Valley students, coordinated by Kim Golden, will open the show.  Read more

‘The Little Town of Christmas’ at the Sullivan County Museum

HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop (SCDW) will hold its holiday event “The Little Town of Christmas.” Performances, including carol singing, are on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, December 16 at 2 p.m. at the Sullivan County Museum, 265 Main St.

Narrowsburg tree lighting

NARROWSBURG, NY — Narrowsburg will light its community Christmas tree on Saturday, December 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the overlook deck on Main Street. Carols will be sung, led by Stuart Hirsch, and a number of shops will hold open house and offer discounts. The public is invited to walk up to Bridge Street to meet Santa’s sleigh.
