Eldred business official resigns; financial investigation underway
Statement by Robert M. Dufour, Superintendent of Eldred Central School District:
On Monday, Nov. 19, the Eldred Central School District Board of Education requested and accepted the unconditional resignation of School Business Official William Thornton, effective immediately.
The board asked for Thornton’s resignation after allegations of financial improprieties in the district came to light over the weekend. Read more
Fire destroys four businesses in Livingston Manor
A huge blaze broke out in the Hoos Building in Livingston Manor at about 3:30 p.m on November 20. The building housed the popular eatery The Lazy Beagle, as well as the businesses Willow and Brown, Moose be Morning and Hot Corner Collectibles. Read more
New Jersey man arrested for scamming elderly woman
