Peck’s stores will match customers’ donations to local food pantries
RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITIES — Up until December 15, the Peck’s markets in five towns will match any items contributed to local food pantries by shoppers. Collection bins are set up in Peck’s stores in Narrowsburg, Callicoon, Eldred, Jeffersonville and Livingston Manor in New York. All food items will be distributed by the stores to the pantries in their communities. Read more

From Bethel Woods Center for the Arts to the Discovery Center, nonprofit organizations play a large role in Sullivan County, and all of the nonprofits were invited to the first annual Sullivan Nonprofit Summit in March 2011. Read more
Future of Livingston Manor landmark unclear
The Hoos Building, which was destroyed by a raging fire on November 20, was located right next to Little Beaver Kill Creek. Charlie Irace, the code enforcement officer for the Town of Rockland, said that as of November 26 the owner of the building, Barry Foster, has not yet settled with the insurance company and does not know if he is going to rebuild the structure, which dates to 1903. If Foster decides to rebuild, it will have to be done through the planning process. Read more

With the arrival of Santa Claus in various locales throughout the region, including the James Dworetsky Holiday Parade in Jeffersonville, NY on November 23 and the Santa Parade in Honesdale, PA on the same night, the holiday season has officially arrived in the Upper Delaware Valley. Read more
