RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITIES — Up until December 15, the Peck’s markets in five towns will match any items contributed to local food pantries by shoppers. Collection bins are set up in Peck’s stores in Narrowsburg, Callicoon, Eldred, Jeffersonville and Livingston Manor in New York. The Hoos Building, which was destroyed by a raging fire on November 20, was located right next to Little Beaver Kill Creek. Charlie Irace, the code enforcement officer for the Town of Rockland, said that as of November 26 the owner of the building, Barry Foster, has not yet settled with the insurance company and does not know if he is going to rebuild the structure, which dates to 1903. If Foster decides to rebuild, it will have to be done through the planning process. Read more
