Reinventing the family farm; corn maze and country story
The sign in front of the old family farmhouse said the farm was established in 1866. It’s been through a number of reincarnations, for instance when, according to the farm’s website, “Timothy Cunningham changed the farm to growing sweet corn to sell directly to consumers. There was a roadside stand out on Route 17B where customers could stop to pick up dinner. This was in the days when you could leave a can on the table and trust people to leave their money if the grandkids had gotten tired of sitting out by the table and wanted a break.” Read more
Local bands perform at The Nutshell
LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — Collabonation Productions and The Nutshell Arts Center will host local jam funk act The Great Danes on October 5. Doors open at 8 p.m. and music starts at 9 p.m. The band features the rhythm brothers Murray: Joe on drums and Sean on bass, as well as the guitar duo of Rob Cahill and Miguel Gonzales.
Also playing is Dizzy Feast, rock and funk magicians comprising of vocalist/guitarist Shane Andrewski, drummer Kyle Hector and bassist Jacob Whispell.

Forestburgh man arrested in connection with heroin overdose deaths
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Forestburgh man in connection with heroin sales in the Monticello area. Jason Bolden, 45, was taken into custody on Tuesday (10-2-12) in the parking lot of Burger King in Monticello after deputies observed him making a deal. Read more

New Location for Honesdale Rotary International Dinner
This year, the event takes place at Honesdale High School on Saturday, from 5:30pm – 7:30pm. The Local Boys will provide entertainment. Proceeds benefit Honesdale Rotary charities, including one of Rotary’s most life-changing programs: the international student exchange program.
Outdoor Club Geocaching/GPS Walk
LIBERTY, NY — Sullivan County’s new Outdoor Club, formed by the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) will host a Geocaching/GPS Walk on Friday, October 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the CCE Turtle Spring Nature Trail, 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd.
