St. Paul’s sponsors ‘Jonah’ bus trip

NARROWSBURG, NY — St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is sponsoring a bus trip to see the biblical musical “Jonah” at the Sight & Sound Theatre in Strasburg, (Lancaster County) PA, on Wednesday, October 24. The tickets cost $110 for adults, $95 for teens (12 to 18) and $75 for children (three to 12). The price includes bus transportation, a stop at the Bird in Hand Farmers Market where you can buy lunch or eat your own brown-bag lunch, the 1 p.m. show and a smorgasbord dinner after the show at the Shady Maple Restaurant.  Read more

Fall Harvest Festival at PEEC

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — Celebrate autumn the traditional way at the Pocono Environmental Education Center’s (PEEC’s) Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will feature seasonal exhibits and old-time activities including candle making, arts and crafts and food preservation.

The event will also include hands-on learning stations, conservation exhibits, live music, local food, beverages and a live animal presentation by the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Pre-registration is not required. Admission costs $5 per car.  Read more

Swing in to Labor Day at Liberty Free

LIBERTY, NY — The Liberty Free Theatre will lead into Labor Day with a special evening of poetry and jazz on Friday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m. Poet Barry Wallenstein will read from his recent collection of selected and new poems, “Drastic Dislocations,” and jazz guitarist and composer Steve Carlin will play and accompany Wallenstein in a performance of their celebrated collaborations of poetry and jazz. They will be joined by special guests bassist Tony DeCicco and saxophonist Larry Ravdin.  Read more

The Laugh Tour

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — The Tonight Show’s Jessica Kirson will headline The Laugh Tour at the Nutshell on September 1. The evening will also feature Chris Distefano, Erika Wasser and emcee Rich Kiamco. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m. Drinks and food will be available.

Labor Day Parade in DeBruce

DEBRUCE, NY — “Cars, Crafts & Country” are coming to the DeBruce Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 3. For the third year in a row, the festivities will benefit the Livingston Manor Free Library.

The gathering begins at 10 a.m., with the parade starting at 11 a.m. The parade will feature floats, The MountainTones Marching Band, Farmer Jim and His Clan, the antique “Parksville” fire truck and over 50 antique cars. The party will include entertainment by Lorena the Flamenco Dancer, Rainbow Fire Hoops, Kelly Curtis Juggling & Face Painting and Balloon Art by the Balloon-a-tic.  Read more
