WILLIAMSPORT, PA -- The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has fined EXCO Resources LLC of Warrendale, Allegheny County, $47,500 for operating unpermitted residual waste transfer stations in Lycoming and Sullivan counties in 2011 and earlier this year, which violated the state’s Solid Waste Management Act. Ellen M. Kelly of Hurley, NY, formerly of Liberty, NY, a retired deputy clerk and treasurer for the Village of Liberty, died on August 1, 2012 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. She was 91.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 6 in the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty, with Father Joseph Juracek OFM officiating. Burial was in the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty.
Memorial contributions in Ellen’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Charles J. Piera of Sundown, NY, 72, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Catskill Regional Hospital, Harris, NY.
Born February 23, 1940 in Meriden, CT, he was the son of the late Carlos Piera of Pego, Spain, and the late Presentacion Riera Piera of Vergel, Spain.
Mr. Piera was a graduate of Choate in Wallinford, CT, class of 1958, and received a BA in History from Columbia University in 1962.He retired as Supervisor of Volunteer Services at Eastern Correctional Facility in Naponach in 2006, after 27 years. Read more

Elizabeth “Betty” C. Dennis of Beach Lake, PA passed away July 24, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale PA, following an illness. She was born in Kingston, PA, August 29, 1937, daughter of the late Ruth Davey Dennis and Thomas S. Dennis.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert Freiermuth and Richard Theobald. Read more

Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Wilbert Plummer, the Acting Special Agent-in-Charge of the New York Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”), announced on August 2 the unsealing of an Indictment against FRANK NATIELLO III, JOSHUA SCHULTZ, JESUS GUTIERREZ, CLEMENTE FERNANDEZ, and JUAN DAVID ZAPATA-MONTOYA (the “Natiello Organization”), for their roles in operating several marijuana “grow houses” in Sullivan County that grew and distributed multi-million dollar quantities of marijuana. Bloods Gang Member Sentenced to 65 Years in Prison in Gang Assault in Shooting of Another Man in Evergreen
Sullivan County District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Daquan Gray, aka “Day Day”, age 21, of Monticello, N.Y. was sentenced in Sullivan County Court by County Judge Michael McGuire today, August 7, 2012, to an aggregate sentence of 65 years in state prison and 5 years of post release supervision for Gang Assault and other violent felony charges.
