Wednesday evening, July 18, I played the part of a fishing buddy for young Arnon Goldberg. Arnon is trying to master the mysteries of fly fishing while attending the Trout Unlimited “Fish Camp.” As is the case with all beginners, it will take a while. Arnon seems to have the proper degree of determination and inquisitiveness. Read more

Among the more enjoyable activities of summer are things like swimming in a nearby lake or river and enjoying a picnic under the trees. If you take a close look at the shoreline, however, you may see some snack-grabbing activity going on besides hamburgers and coleslaw. Read more

Dessin receives 12 dogs from Benton hoarder case
HONESDALE, PA — More than 200 Chihuahuas removed from the home of Albert and Thomas Ambrosia on Ridge Road in Jackson Township, Columbia County, PA on July 19 are being transported to shelters across the state in order to find new homes for the small dogs. Twelve of the dogs are now at Dessin Animal Shelter being cleaned up and cared for in preparation for adoption. Read more

Honesdale may lose liquor store
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PA LCB) has plans to relocate the retail state liquor store which has been on Main Street since the state stores were first established, to the Route 6 Plaza in Texas Township. Read more
