WAYMART, PA — The Wayne County Builders Association (WCBA) Home and Garden Festival will feature the annual Lego Building Contest, sponsored by Estemerwalt Log Homes, on Saturday, April 28 at Ladore Lodge Camp Retreat & Conference Center. Celtic music and corned beef at the Columns

MILFORD, PA — Celebrating its Irish roots, the Columns Museum will welcome Celeste Aldridge in the closing concert of the Pike County Historical Society’s Winter Wednesdays series on March 14 at 7 p.m. The original owner of the 1904 neo-classical manse was Dennis McLaughlin, a man who was known to appreciate an Irish ditty or two.  Read more

‘Shorts & Sweets for St. Patrick’s Day’

HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Sullivan County Historical Society will present Big Sky Productions & Guests in a performance of “Shorts & Sweets for St. Patrick’s Day” on Saturday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sullivan County Museum, 265 Main Street.

The evening will feature Irish music performed by Debbie Palmarini; and by the band Little Sparrow, which features Carol Smith, Aldo Troiani, Lynn Reno and Lester Wilson, with guest guitarist Jim Stickler. Other special guests may make an appearance as well.  Read more

Arts Alive parties to benefit DVAA

REGION — Every April for the past three years, members and friends of Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) have hosted dozens of house parties around Sullivan County and the Upper Delaware River Valley to raise funds for DVAA’s programs and services. This year, the event is scheduled for Saturday, April 21 and has been expanded to include participating restaurants. From a dinner, a movie and dessert to a distillery tour and tasting, several regional restaurants are partnering with DVAA to host their special event.  Read more

‘Family Matters’ at the Alliance

NARROWSBURG, NY — “Family Matters,” an exhibit of paintings by Peter Greene, opens with a reception on Saturday, March 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Alliance Gallery at the Delaware Arts Center at 37 Main Street. The exhibit will be on view through April 14.

“Life has been rich, built around a family whose stories continue to permeate my work,” said Greene. For over 30 years, he has been portraying family life through his paintings. Many of the paintings are set in sparse, dreamy interiors full of shadows and ochre tones.  Read more

Student art displayed in Hurleyville

HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Elementary Art Show will hold an opening reception on Friday, March 9 at the Sullivan County Museum in Hurleyville from 6 to 8 p.m.

The reception will display the artistic talents of the students, provide live music from Sullivan County students, crafts and activities for the kids. Each school district from around the county and BOCES (grades K-8) is submitting artwork for the show.

The artwork will be on display at the museum from March 9 through March 26. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
