Name that kid (or lamb)

CALLICOON, NY — Come to the Sullivan County Farmers’ Market this Sunday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Callicoon Creek Park, Audrey Dorrer Drive, for a chance to name a kid goat or lamb in support of the Sullivan County Farmers’ Markets Association. Polishook on display at Chant

LORDS VALLEY, PA — The Gallery at Chant Realtors will host an exhibit by Joan Polishook, “Inspirational Creations,” from Sunday, April 1 through Saturday, April 29. Meet the artist on Saturday, April 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. while viewing the show and enjoying refreshments.

Polishook creates in a variety of art mediums. The exhibit is an eclectic mix showcasing the artist’s interest and expertise in expressing feeling and mood primarily in the interpretation of the local landscape.

Liberty hosts Easter egg hunt

LIBERTY, NY — The Town of Liberty Parks and Recreation Department and the Liberty Public Library will be hold its annual Easter egg hunt on March 31.

Starting at 11 a.m., there will be readings and Easter craft projects for the children at the library. Starting at 12 p.m., the Easter egg hunt will be held at the Liberty Elementary ball field on North Main Street. Bring children up to eight years old with a basket to search for eggs, meet the Easter Bunny, participate in children’s games and have a chance to win a basket full of Easter goodies.  Read more

‘Hello Dolly!’ presented at Monticello High

MONTICELLO, NY — Monticello High School students will present “Hello Dolly!” on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Arnold Packer Hughs Auditorium.

Based on the play “The Matchmaker” by Thornton Wilder, with a Tony Award-winning book by Michael Stewart and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, the musical tells the story of a charming widow, Dolly Levi. “What do you do for a living, Mrs. Levi?” asks Ambrose Kemper in the opening scene. “Some people paint, some sew... Fashion as art

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — On Saturday, March 31, “Clothing for Goddesses” will open at 4 p.m. in the newly remodeled Plunk Shop Barn at 39 Main Street. This fashion-as-art exhibition will highlight regional clothing artists as well as a range of experimental clothing and accessory works from artists/crafters of all media. The artists’ reception starts at 4 p.m., with a runway show at 5 p.m.

Easter Bunny hopping into Yulan

YULAN, NY — The Yulan Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will host a visit from the Easter Bunny at the Fireman’s Field on Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. There will be games and crafts for children of all ages and goodie bags to take home, compliments of the Easter Bunny. Refreshments will be provided and firemen will be on hand to show children the fire trucks and their gear. There will be opportunities for pictures with the Easter Bunny.

In the event of bad weather, the Easter Bunny will visit the Yulan Firehouse. Donations for the event are welcome. Call 845/557-6090.

Woodsongs Coffeehouse features Steve Lane

HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Woodsongs Coffeehouse at the Sullivan County Museum will feature Steve Lane (www.myspace.com/stevelanemusic) of Port Jervis on Saturday, April 7 at 6 p.m. Lane was raised in a farmhouse on old-time country music, and has become a noted alternative country music songwriter. He learned the guitar from his country-music father Don Lane and brother Dan, and other musicians that hung around their house when he was a child. Techno Hotel

The thumping bass beats coming from next door rattle the windows of our hotel room in Miami. Though the music isn’t very loud while in the room, you can feel it in the floor.

I’m visiting Emily in South Beach, FL. She’s here producing a fairly big beer commercial. It’s very exciting for her and the director involved. I came down to visit and hang out, but it wasn’t until a day or so before I got here that Emily told me that Ultra, a new music festival, was going on that weekend.
