The New York State Police announce the positive identification made by the Orange County Medical Examiners Office regarding the human skeletal remains recovered on 1/16/2012 from the marshy wetlands located off of State Route 17-K in the Town of Montgomery.  Read more

New process for tourism dollars; critics call it a political payoff

The newly-seated Sullivan County Legislature on January 26 voted to change the way it awards about $700,000 in room-tax revenue to promote tourism in the county. New Forest Planning Rule seeks to restore nation’s forests: Final Environmental Impact Statement by US Forest Service released

WASHINGTON — Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today signaled the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s intent to issue a new planning rule for America’s 193-million acre National Forest System that seeks to deliver stronger protections for forests, water, and wildlife while supporting the economic vitality of rural communities, by releasing online a Final Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for the National Forest System Land Management Planning Rule.
