Marie ‘Bette’ Davies

Marie “Bette” Davies of Beach Lake, PA died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She was 95.

Born December 25, 1915 in Scranton, she was the daughter and last surviving member of the Patrick and Jesse Walker O’Brien family. She was a graduate of Carbondale High School and later moved to Damascus, PA.

A housewife and mother, she was known to be a “handy” woman, who loved to sew, garden and refinish furniture. While living in Damascus, she was a member of Holy Cross Church in Callicoon.  Read more


George Doone of Narrowsburg, NY passed away suddenly at Wayne County Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA on Sunday, December 25, 2011. He was 90.

George was born on February 26, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY.

He was a retired Union Printer for GCIU Local 119B in New York City. He retired to Narrowsburg, NY 16 years ago with his wife, Eileen Sexton Doone.

He is survived by his wife at home; son Donald Lindacher of Narrowsburg; and several close friends.  Read more


Barbara A. Hallock of Highland Lake, NY passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 70.

Barbara was born on October 13, 1941 in Queens, the daughter of the late Thomas T. and Mary Freeman Van Etten.  Read more


Walentin Kotlarow of Eldred, NY, a longtime resident of the area, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. He was 83.

He was born March 10, 1928 in Ukraine, the son of the late Peter and the late Irene Kotlarow. Walentin married Nadia Komar 56 years ago on May 7, 1955 in NYC.  Read more


Edith E. Kracht of Napanoch, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. She was 85.

Born on November 30, 1926 in South Fallsburg, NY, she was the daughter of Willard and Hattie (Avery) Kracht.

Edith worked as a telephone operator for the Pioneer Telephone Co. for 50 years. She was a former member of the Ellenville Seniors and she loved animals, especially dogs.

She is survived by her sisters Marion Stackhouse of White Lake, NY and Gertrude Miller of Ellenville, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Read more


Cynthia A. Monchino of Newburgh, NY entered into rest on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at home with her family. She was 62.

Daughter of the late Richard and Janna Timmerman Birkenstock, she was born on April 10, 1949 in the Bronx, NY. On December 14, 1968, she married Donald R. Monchino, who survives at home.

She graduated from Tappan Zee High School and was a retired Town of New Windsor Court Clerk.

Cynthia was an avid camper and loved being outdoors. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, the light of her life.  Read more

James ‘Jamie’ Samuel Morgan, III

Mr. James “Jamie” Samuel Morgan, III of Huguenot, NY died unexpectedly on December 22, 2011. He was 46.

He was born December 4, 1965 in Middletown, NY, the son of James Samuel Morgan, II and Linda Hendershot.

Jamie worked as a graphics installer for Paramount Graphics. He was a member of Lost and Found Bible Church of Milford, PA.  Read more


Deborah “Debbie” Carol Storms of Port Jervis, NY, a lifetime resident of the area, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis after a long battle with cancer. She was 59.

She was born September 30, 1952 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late LeRoy Edward and the late Lucille Carol Bailey Storms.

Debbie was married to the late James E. Baker, Sr. He died July 30, 2002.

She worked as a cashier for Citgo Gas Station in Montague, NJ.  Read more


Laurie Marie Barnes Trotti of Livingston Manor, NY, died in her home on January 1, 2012 after a fierce battle with cancer. She was 58.

Laurie joined her husband, Robert F. Trotti Sr., in eternal sleep.

Laurie was born on December 27, 1953 in Barryville, NY to the late Elsa and Allen Barnes. She is survived by siblings Larry, Elsa, Anita, Arthur and Allen.  Read more


Candace Wilensky of Waltham, MA passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She was 64.

She was born on January 13, 1947 in Huntington, Long Island, NY.

She was a graduate of SUNY Binghamton, NY, with a degree in music performance. She was an accomplished musician, playing at various times with the Lexington Bicentennial Band, Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, and the Charles River Wind Ensemble. She worked as an independent computer consultant and was the author of two computer-related books.  Read more
