I wanted to find out where they stand on a variety of issues that are important to me and to my community. Anthony “Tony” Richard Girardi of Eldred, NY, a 32 year resident of the area, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 94.
The son of the late Daniel and Bridget Girardi, he was born in Manhattan on June 19, 1917, the youngest and last of seven siblings.
Anthony served as a corporal in the army in WWII and was a disabled veteran. Read more

William H. “Crow” Gavitt of Boyd’s Mills, PA died Friday, October 28, 2011 at home after an illness. He was 83.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, the former Yvonne Snook. They were married on November 30, 1951.
Born on June 24, 1928 at the family homestead in Boyd’s Mills, he was the son of the late Joseph D. & Edna Mary Cowell Gavitt. He was a graduate of Damascus High School. Read more
Lillian McMahon of Jeffersonville, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Virginia Beach, VA. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Rose Boyle, she was born February 11, 1928 in Callicoon, NY. She was married to the late George McMahon.
She is survived by four children, Terry McMahon and wife Maryellen of Virginia Beach, VA, Linda Piermarini and husband Ernest of Cold Spring, NY, Joyce Rosman and husband Jeffrey of Succasunna, NJ and Sheri Rutledge and husband Robert of Tyler Hill, PA; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
