Handmade for the Holidays

ROSCOE, NY — You can get your holiday shopping started at the scenic mountaintop location of Duke Pottery, at 855 County Rd. on the first two holiday weekends, Saturday and Sunday, November 26 and 27 and December 3 and 4. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all days.
The event is an exhibit of 25 artisans including pottery, jewelry, paintings, silk scarves, furniture, lampshades, vintage clothes and linens, handbags, tutus and more, all for sale. There will also be a pastry café, provided by Flour Power Bakery, wine tastings and a complimentary cup of local Java Love Coffee.  Read more

Roscoe PTA holds variety show

ROSCOE, NY — Roscoe Central School PTA will hold its annual variety show, “With Holiday Flair,” on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m. in the RCS Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The cost for adults is $5, $4 for senior citizens and $3 for students. Children under four are admitted free.

Handel’s Messiah

MILFORD, PA — The Delaware Valley Choral Society and Symphony Orchestra will peform Handel’s Oratorio “Messiah” in concert at 4 p.m. on December 4 at Milford Bible Church, 110 Foxcroft Drive. Guest solo artists will include Alex Garrido (soprano), Patricia Ruggles (alto), Jeremy Blossey (tenor), and John-Andrew Fernandez (baritone).  Read more

CAS Members Show & Holiday Fair exhibit opens

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY —The CAS Arts Center presents the annual winter CAS Members Show & Holiday Fair running from November 26 to December 23. There will be an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. The show, on display throughout the gallery, will exhibit the work of members of the Catskill Art Society and provides a venue for local holiday shopping. In addition to the gallery’s usual hours (Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), the arts center will be open Monday through Friday, December 19 through 23 from 12 noon to 5 p.m.  Read more

Thanksgiving in Northern Wayne

EQUINUNK, PA — Thanksgiving Eve has been celebrated in worship for several years by member churches of the Northern Wayne Ministerium. On Wednesday, November 23 at 7 p.m., Equinunk United Methodist Church will host this year’s service. Because the early settlers were grateful for a good harvest back in 1620, they set aside a day for thanksgiving to God for his provision and bounty. The evening will feature prayer and preaching; music by the churches’ choirs; special children’s readings and Thanksgiving skits. ‘800 Years’

PORT JERVIS, NY — There will be an exhibit of works by Stephen Patrick O’Donnell Sr. on Sunday, December 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Port Java at 19 Front St.

O’Donnell was born in Port Jervis. His forefathers were Irish immigrants hailing from County Donegal, Ireland. Settling in Lackawaxen, PA, his ancestors worked on both the D&H Canal and the Erie Lackawanna railroad. Back in Ireland, The O’Donnell’s, or O’Domhnaill’s as they are known in Gaelic, are famous for being deeply involved in the 800-year struggle for Irish independence, giving the upcoming exhibit its name, “800 Years.”  Read more
