Cairo food stamp arrest

The New York State Police at Catskill announce the arrest the owners of the South Cairo General Store located on Rt-23B in the Town of Cairo for Misuse of Food Stamps, a misdemeanor, following an investigation involving food stamp transactions in Greene County.  Read more

NY State Police target cell phones, driving

Major Edward Raso, Troop “F” Commander today announced that during the Thanksgiving Holiday, the New York State Police will conduct a traffic enforcement campaign called OPERATION HANG UP, targeting motorists that use their cell phone and other electronic devices while driving. Cell phone use and texting while driving continue to proliferate despite widespread public concern and acknowledgement that the behaviors are dangerous.  Read more

Neversink Barn Quilt Calendar

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — Neversink Renaissance has released its Barn Quilts of Neversink 2012 Calendar, depicting historic barns during the various seasons of the year. This is the fourth year in a row that Town of Neversink residents have photographed barn quilts placed on the town’s barns by local volunteers. This year’s calendar also celebrates the grand opening of the new addition to the Daniel Pierce Library and the Time in the Valleys Museum.  Read more

Poinsettia sale

LIBERTY, NY — If you would like to make a donation that supports local educational programming, buy a local product and get a holiday house decoration or gift all at the same time, Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County’s poinsettia fundraiser is a good way to kick off the season. Their plants are locally grown, florist-grade poinsettias. All orders must be made by November 25, with delivery in early December. Red, pink and white flowers are available and range in size from four-and-one-half-inch pots to 10-inch pots. Call 845/292-5250 to inquire.

Shop at Time and the Valleys

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — The Time and the Valleys Museum has opened a Museum Shop at 332 Main Street, and updated on-line shop at www.timeandthevalleysmuseum.org just in time for the holidays. The Museum Shop, both at the physical location and on-line, was created to encourage and further interest in Catskill and Sullivan County history and the environment, and to help support the museum’s many program and projects to interpret and preserve local history.  Read more

Saw Creek holds Angel Tree fundraiser

BUSHKILL, PA — The Saw Creek Estates Member Services Office will be working with the Bushkill Outreach Program to hold an Angel Tree gift fundraiser. This fundraiser will provide gifts to needy children during the holiday season.

In order to participate, visit the Member Services Office, pick an angel tag off of the tree and bring back an unwrapped gift for the appropriate gender and age described on the tag. The fundraiser will begin November 28 and finish on December 9. The Bushkill Outreach Program will distribute donated gifts.  Read more
