Hit the road with ‘Around the Bend’

HONESDALE, PA — The next Wayne County Arts Alliance’s autumn Sunday Night Cinema film will be “Around the Bend,” a 2004 production written and directed by Jordan Roberts and starring Michael Caine, Christopher Walken and Josh Lucas. It will be shown at 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 9 at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.

The film tells the story of four generations of men in a troubled American family. After the death of the family patriarch (played by Caine), his son, grandson and great grandson take off on a road trip.  Read more

Harvest & Heritage Days

HONESDALE, PA — Honesdale will roll out the pumpkins, hay bales, cornstalks and scarecrows for its annual “Harvest & Heritage Days” on Saturday, October 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Craft vendors will dot Main Street on both days, and merchants have created scarecrows that can be visited all around town. Old-fashioned hay rides will be offered for a small fee, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Hay rides will depart from the corner of 7th and Main Streets and are sure to be fun for the whole family.  Read more

Barbershop concert

HONESDALE, PA — The Northeasters Honesdale Barbershop chorus of the Barbershop Harmony Society will present its 33rd annual show, titled “Barber Pop,” on Saturday, October 8, at 7 p.m. at Honesdale High School. It will feature songs from 1958 to 1970, including songs like “Hello Mary Lou,” “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” and “Blue Velvet.” The guest professional barbershop quartet will be “Wheelhouse” (Brandon Brooks, Rich Gray, Jeff Gray and Mike Kelly-Bass), which was the 2003 Mid-Atlantic District Champion.  Read more

Exotic birds in Liberty

LIBERTY, NY — The Catskill Exotic Bird Club will hold its 20th annual Pet Bird Show on Sunday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Liberty Ambulance Corps building. Owners of pet can enter their own birds; the entry fee is $1 a bird. Every type of exotic bird will be judged in its own division.
