Mad Hatter’s Bash

SHOHOLA, PA — The Barryville Green Market Foundation will hold the second annual Mad Hatter’s Summer Bash on Saturday, July 23 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Blue Stone Farm. This year will be a massive festive party with appetizers made from locally grown ingredients and plenty of spirits. Guests are asked to create a hat to wear. The winner of the best hat will get a week-long stay at Blue Stone Farm ($3,000 value). There will be live musical guests, cooking demos, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party gone awry and a silent auction. Finn’s Fury comes to Seelig

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — Finn’s Fury, a New York Celtic rock group combining blues, punk and lyrical vocals to create “Urban Celtic Fusion Rock” will come to the Seelig Theatre of SUNY Sullivan on Thursday, July 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $12 for children under 13. Open house for Art on the Edge

HAWLEY, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) will hold an open house at Art on The Edge at the Hawley Silk Mill on Friday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. A $10 donation to benefit WCAA community art programs is suggested.

Art on The Edge is an exhibition featuring contemporary collective works by local and regional artists, curated by Rocky Pinciotti and hosted by the WCAA, a grassroots non-profit arts organization whose vision is “to enrich our community through the arts.”  Read more

Reunion planned at Bethel School

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, PA — A reunion gathering is planned for the July 24 open house at the Bethel School. All Bethel School alumni are invited. Attempts are being made to contact everyone who attended the school. Former students are invited to bring their mementos as well as their memories.

All Bethel School open houses are held from 1 to 4 p.m. with the special presentations at 2 p.m. There is no admission charge and everyone, especially children, is invited to attend.

Jeffersonville Lions Club holds charity horse show

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The Jeffersonville Lions Club will host its annual charity horse show at Stone Wall Farms on Saturday, July 23. Hunt seat classes for all levels of horse and rider are on the schedule and Marshall & Sterling classes are offered. Cooper Boone at Neversink museum

CUDDEBACKVILLE, NY — The Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation will host Cooper Boone, a benefit concert on Friday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. Singer, songwriter, performer, chef, online video star, clinical psychologist and Hollywood Music Award winner Cooper Boone has shared the stage with Craig Morgan, Trace Adkins, Bucky Covingoton and more, and has co-written two albums worth of award-winning songs. Boone’s music includes upbeat crowd-pleasers like “She’s All That” and personal, heartfelt fare like “Celia’s Hands,” Boone’s homage to his grandmother.  Read more

Sidewalk sales, Hawaiian style

HONESDALE, PA — The “Aloha Honesdale” annual sidewalk sales will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 21, 22 and 23, sponsored by The Dime Bank, with support from Wayne County Tourism. Main Street will be filled with merchandise offered by local stores, area vendors and artists and area non-profits, all with a Hawaiian theme. Visitors can view the 2011 Wayne County Arts Alliance project, “Express Mail,” with mailboxes decorated by local artists at businesses all around Honesdale, and participate in the “It’s NOT Your Mama’s Muumuu” contest from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Read more

Book sale at Callicoon Street Fair

CALLICOON, NY — The Western Sullivan Public Library will hold a book fairduring the annual Callicoon Street Fair on Saturday, July 30 at the Delaware Free Branch. During the last hour books will be available to take home at $2 a bag. All proceeds will benefit the library.

Also available will be information about the library’s Public Computer Center, which offers free one-on-one computer assistance and classes. Call 845/887-4040.

Jewish film festival in Bethel

KAUNEONGA LAKE, NY— The Catskill Film Festival will present its first annual Jewish Film Festival on Saturday evenings at 8:30 p.m. at the the newly constructed pavilion across the street from the Fat Lady Café. The festival will start on July 23 and run weekly through August 27.

The series entry for July 23 will by the Woody Allen comedy “Radio Days,” a 1987 film set in 1940s Rockaway Beach, Queens. The film presents an affectionate look at the heyday of radio, marriage, celebrities, the war in Europe and secret decoder rings. It was nominated for two Academy Awards.  Read more

‘Classic to Cool’ concludes with gala finale

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The Weekend of Chamber Music’s (WCM) “Classic to Cool” festival will conclude this weekend, starting on Friday, July 22 at 7 p.m. with “At Work & Play Behind the Notes,” a free open rehearsal at the Eddie Adams Farm. The Saturday concert, at 8 p.m., will feature music by Brahms, Reger and Respighi in the “Gala Grand Finale,” followed by an artists’ reception on the barn porch under the stars, also at the farm. There will be a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $30. Friday and Saturday’s events will be at the Eddie Adams barn.  Read more
